She doesn’t Need any Superhero, to be capable of great things, to rescue others, even, save herself, to know her own real power is enough……she is a wonder woman. Taking care of all things happening she ignores her care. For this purpose we are here with a herbal care pack by Planet Ayurveda- Wonder Woman Care Pack. Let’s discuss the phase of life of a woman as per ayurveda and how this pack is helpful in maintaining the health of a woman in each phase of her life.

PHASES OF WOMAN LIFE AS PER AYURVEDA

There are three stages of life: childhood, adulthood and the elderhood. As life is considerably having three phases so there are different changes in each phase. Let’s discuss as below:

  • Childhood Phase: In this stage of life kapha dosha is predominating and it starts from birth and lasts till puberty. This phase is considered upto 16 years of age and in this phase all the characteristics will be as that of kapha. The link between kapha dosha and childhood is very clear. The childhood phase is all about the growing stage, accumulating body mass, building of new body tissues and continuous increase in weight of the body. At this stage the body requires an abundant amount of kapha dosha in order to assure a healthy growth. So the childhood stage used to be blessed with fullness of kapha dosha and its nourishing qualities.
  • Childhood Complaints: Balance of every thing is important so if kapha gets imbalanced in this stage common health issues such as cough, congestion, frequent colds, runny nose, excess mucus, etc. Care while this phase is too important as this phase is responsible for building immunity. Some of the immunity is passed from the child’s mother by the route of breast feeding and the other way of developing immunity is exposure to certain microbes in the environment. For getting good immunity levels we have to take care of a woman during childhood so that she has a better life.
  • Adulthood Phase: In this phase pitta dosha is at peak and the stage starts from puberty to the 50 years of age. The relation of pitta dosha and adulthood is not so obvious as that of the relation between childhood and kapha dosha. But a closer examination may signify the relation between pitta dosha and adulthood. This is the phase of life that is for assimilating the experience of life, evolving unique gifts, skills & talents forming an identity and it’s all about the achievements of life. All these required things are achieved by the ambition in a woman due to the balanced state of pitta dosha. On the other hand, a woman steps into her menarche life and the imbalance of pitta dosha causes some of the difficulties while menstruating too, that we will discuss in the further article.
  • Complaints During Adulthood: The nature of pitta dosha is hot and the difficulties or health issues faced in this period by a woman are combined with health issues related to her menarche. So this stage includes associated conditions with aggravated pitta dosha such as hyper-acidity, irritability, indigestion, ulceration, heartburn, inflammation. Besides this woman suffered from difficulty while menstruating, excessive bleeding and some more associated issues. So to resolve all these health concerns there is a need to balance the aggravated pitta dosha.
  • Elderhood Phase: This is the last stage of life and a woman needs too much care by her family to pass away her last stage of life easily. As a woman takes care of her family throughout her life and in this age she needs some more attention for the healthy time period of her elderhood phase. In this phase tha vata dosha is on higher levels. All the changes in the life of women at this phase are due to vata dosha. The stage begins after 5o years of age and lasts until death. Elderhood is all about wisdom, mastery, maturity and sharing your achievements. In this stage the capability of rejuvenating one’s own gets reduced so there is a need to move from the stage of adulthood to the stage of elderhood with grace so that a little bit of rejuvenation is there in this phase. So to keep a woman healthy in her last stage of life there is a need to keep vata dosha balance in her body.
  • Difficulty while passing through elderhood: The chances of degeneration in this phase are high as vata dosha gets aggravated. As per ayurveda aggravated vata dosha leads to the depletion of all sapta dhatus (seven bodily tissues) then the degeneration process occurs at high pace. So to prevent the degeneration of the body cells there is a need to keep vata dosha in a balanced stage. The associated components of a woman in this phase are low bone density and most commonly neurological disorders. Also the menopause phase started in this phase this leads to too much health issues as well such as osteopororsis and other bone health issues, uterine fibroids or associted health concerns wirh reporductive system, etc.

Above we discussed three phases of life as per ayurveda along with all the health issues faced by a woman in these phases. Now we are mentioning the diet and lifestyle changes that prevent any kind of health issues in each phase of life.

DIET AND LIFESTYLE CHANGES IN PARTICULAR PHASE OF LIFE

1. In the first stage of life (Adulthood phase)

As we read earlier kapha dosha is responsible for all the changes occurring in this phase. We can not eliminate kapha dosha from the body in the childhood phase, we have to keep kapha dosha in balance with particular diet and lifestyle changes. Let’s take a look on the same:

  • Dietary Changes: For balancing kapha dosha, warm, light, hot food and naturally astringent or dry, clear and rough properties diet are tremendous for balancing kapha dosha. Digestive spices such as ginger, garlic, turmeric and cinnamon are extremely helpful in balancing kapha dosha. Avoid the food items that aggravate the kapha dosha such as pungent, astringent and bitter taste and foods like wheat, sweets, sugary and dairy products.
  • Lifestyle Changes: There is a need to maintain a powerful level of physical activity that is considered as one of the most encouraging lifestyle choices that parents can inspire their children to make. Inactivity is the major cause of kapha imbalance in childhood and doing regular exercise can regulate kapha tendency. As physical activity initiates blood and lymph circulation, balances the energy levels, maintains proper flow of nutrients in the body and regulates detoxification throughout the body.

2. In the second phase of life (Adulthood phase)

This phase is associated with aggravated pitta dosha as mentioned earlier. In adulthood, people face issues related to aggravated pitta and to keep pitta dosha in a balanced state following are some dietary and lifestyle changes that one must make in their life for a healthy living.

  • Dietary Changes: The dietary changes to keep pitta dosha in balance one must have to do are adding cool, astringent, light to digest. Spices like coriander, cumin, fennel, turmeric and mint are favorable to lower the pitta dosha. The diet one must have to avoid in this phase are caffeine, spicy dishes and alcohol.
  • Lifestyle Changes: For balancing pitta dosha you can include yoga, pranayama, meditation and abhyanga in your day to day life. Yoga for balancing pitta dosha are nadi shodhana and sheetali pranayama. One can do empty bowel meditation. It will calm the pitta dosha and relieve you from certain health issues. Abhyanga is one of the best ayurvedic self practices in which massage is done with pitta pacifying oils like coconut oil and sunflower oil.

3. In the third phase of life (Elderhood)

As we studied earlier the condition is associated with aggravated vata dosha and the degenerative changes occur in this phase and to avoid any degenerative changes one must follow the following diet and lifestyle changes to avoid any health issues.

  • Dietary Changes: The food must be cooked, soft, and moist such as soup, enriched with nutrients, healthy fats, warm and seasoned with hot potency spices. These food items pacify vata dosha by lubricating tissues, kindling agni, promoting nutrition and encouraging warmth. Spices such as black pepper, pippali, ginger, cinnamon, fennel, cumin and others have a hot potency. One must avoid frozen or cold food items, raw vegetables or fruit, dry things like crackers, popcorn, beans and some stimulants such as caffeine, alcohol and refined sugars.
  • Lifestyle Changes: Doing abhyanga with sesame oil will protect and lubricate the bodily tissues that gently ground and insulate the nervous system. Nasya practice is one of the most effective practices in the field of ayurveda to calm the nervous system. In this practice oil is poured in the nostrils that soothes and lubricates delicate respiratory tissues, relieves stress, improves quality of voice by acting on all the five sense organs. So by calming the nervous system nasya helps in alleviating all neurological conditions (vataj disorders). Nadi shodhana pranayama and so hum meditation are efficiently vata pacifying.
