WHAT IS PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA?

It is one of those rarest tumors which are usually non-cancerous and develop in adrenal glands and increase the secretion of hormones – adrenaline and non-adrenaline that increase the heart rate, pulse rate, blood pressure, and overall body metabolism. It can damage the cardiovascular system. Commonly it occurs in people between the ages of 20 and 50 but tumors can develop at any age of life.

CAUSES OF PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA

There are two adrenal glands present one above each kidney. It can affect one of the adrenal glands or can affect both. Tumors develop in specialized cells called chrmaffin cells, placed in the Centre of adrenal gland. These cells secrete adrenaline and non-adrenaline that control many body functions like heart rate, blood pressure and blood sugar.

According to Ayurveda- there are three energies that are vata, pitta and kapha in the body which is responsible for healthy body. Imbalance of any one is responsible for ailments, Tumor is categorized as "Pitta Arbud" (Arbud literally means tumor and Pitta means "fire energy"). It is a fire eliminating tumor and is caused by imbalance of fire element in the body. Causes of imbalance of pitta can be due to genetic reasons, too much consumption of fiery food, spicy, hot food. Pitta prakriti is also one of the reason for formation of tumors.

This disease is categorized under pitta imbalance, treatment is focused on the balance of pitta doshas. 1. VARA CHURNA

Commonly it is known as Triphala powder. It is combination of three herbs – Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Bhibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica) and Amlaki (Emblica officinalis). These are also called Myrobalans. It helps to keep the digestive system healthy. Vara churna aids in restoring all three doshas in the body and cure the disease.

Dosage – 1 teaspoonful twice daily with warm water or apple juice.
