Abstract

The Tridoshas are a unique idea in Ayurvedic Science. Ayurveda views the body as built from Tridoshas (Energetic forces), Tissues (Dhatus), and Wastes (Malas). Tridoshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, help to form diverse Body Tissues and remove Waste Products. The Tridoshas also govern all Movements, Transformations, Sensory Processes, and a variety of other processes in both the Mind and the Body. The Doshas are living energies that shift according to our thoughts, actions, emotions, what we eat, the changing seasons, and any other sensory stimuli that nourish our mind and body. That is why, in Ayurveda, we advocate making lifestyle and dietary choices that promote balance among our Doshas. When we deviate from our intrinsic natures and foster undesirable practices that result in physical and mental imbalance. There is one such combination of three miraculous herbs which helps in keeping Tridoshas in Balance. Here we will learn about these three herbs and their tridosha balancing properties along with other properties.

Introduction

Herbal remedies are some of the oldest medicines in healthcare, and they have long been regarded as one of the most effective ways to maintain human health and balance. Ayurveda, a Sanskrit phrase that means “knowledge of life” or “science of perfect health,” is India’s traditional system of personalized medicine that focuses on disease prevention and promotion. Triphala (tri means three and phala means fruits) is a well-known and admired polyherbal medication made up of dried out fruits of the three herbs Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia Bellirica) and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) that are native to the Indian subcontinent. It is regarded as a Tridosha Balancer in Ayurvedic medicine since it promotes lifespan and revitalization for individuals of all ages and constitutions.

Properties Of Ingredient Used

  1. Amalaki (Emblica officinalis): Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), often known as Indian gooseberry, is high in minerals and the best organic source of vitamin C. It is commonly used to treat a variety of health conditions. Daily use of Amalaki also improves immunity. According to Ayurveda, it is one of the most effective Rasayana for brightening the complexion, purifying the blood, and improving vision. Amla is effective for Pitta-related diseases. It also enhances strength and body resistance against infections due to its Rasayana (Rejuvenative) and Vrishya (Aphrodisiac) characteristics. Amla balances Pitta due to its Madhura (sweet) and Sita (cool) properties, thus it is mainly responsible for balancing Pitta Dosha in a combination of Triphala Churna. It is also beneficial to diabetics, as it helps manage blood glucose levels. It also helps avoid premature aging and graying of the hair.
  2. Bibhitaki (Terminalia Bellirica): Baheda (Terminalia bellirica) is additionally referred to as “Bibhitaki” in Sanskrit, meaning “the one who protects against diseases.” It is used to treat pharyngitis, the common cold, and constipation. Baheda trees are big trees with needles found throughout India. All components of the tree are utilized medicinally, particularly the dried fruit. Baheda fruits have an astringent (kashaya) taste, with dry, light properties and hot potency. Baheda’s antibacterial and anti-allergic characteristics help to relieve cough and cold symptoms. Baheda is a good home remedy for improving digestion; it may be created by adding Baheda churna to a glass of hot water and drinking it daily.
  3. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula): Harad is a herb commonly called Harade in India. It offers numerous Ayurvedic health advantages. Harad is an incredible plant that can help manage hair loss and promote hair growth. This is because of an abundance of vitamin C, manganese, iron, copper and selenium, all of which nourish the scalp optimally. Harad possesses Deepan (appetizer), Ruksha (dry), Rasayana (rejuvenating) and Medhya (intelligence-enhancing) qualities. Harad is useful for eyes and overall weakness because of its Chakshushya (promoting eye health) and Brahan (strentghening) properties. It also helps to alleviate body aches due to its Vata Anuloma (Vata balancing) properties. Harad can also help with coughing and other related issues, such as shortness of breath. It also aids in the relief of digestive problems, thanks to its Pachan (digestive) and Deepan (appetizer).
