Description

Introduction

Shwet is known as white and this medicine has been named so because it has all the ingredients which are white in color. It is a classical ayurvedic medicine which is in powder form in the end. It is known as parpati due to the making of flakes while making this formulation. It is mainly used in dysuria i.e difficulty in urination which can be due to any reason and also diseases related to the urinary tract disorders.

It has the following ingredients which are mentioned below:

  1. Kalmi shora (Purified potassium nitrate)
  2. Sphatika (Purified potash alum)
  3. Navasadar (Purified ammonium chloride)

Description Of The Ingredients

All the ingredients have specific medicinal properties which are mentioned below:

1. Kalami sora

It is also known as surya kshara which is made from the purified potassium nitrate, kshara in ayurveda refers to anything which is alkaline in nature. It has properties such as it helps in pacifying all the three doshas from the body, helps in daran (Bursts or breaks up open wounds), has a theekshana (Intense) property. Hot in potency, has a cleansing, scrapping activity on the body.

2. Sphatika

Purified and processed alum is used in this formulation, it has an astringent, sweet and sour taste. Has medicinal properties such as it checks bleeding, destroys parasites of the intestines so also known as anthelmintic, treats bacterial infections, helps in treating pus discharge from the body. It can be used for many respiratory tract disorders.

3. Nausadar

It is sour, salty and alkaline in taste. Unctuous and cold in nature. Helps in igniting the digestive fire, flowy, helps in the digestion of meat. Pacifying all the three doshas of the body treats conditions such as gulma (Abdominal tumor), adhyaman (Heaviness in abdomen), pleeha (Splenomegaly) and dryness of mouth. It is best to eliminate the kapha dosha from the body.

Method Of Preparation

This formulation is made by using the following method of preparation:-

  1. All the ingredients are mixed, put in a pan and heated up.
  2. When it is melted then poured on an even surface and pressed so that it forms a thin white layer which is known as parpati.

  3. Ashmari (Renal stones)
  4. Diabetes

Indications

It can be indicated in conditions such as dysuria, burning sensation of the urine, renal stones, dyspepsia, difficulty in urination, absence of urination, indigestion, diabetes, reduces the urine ketones and urine glucose levels in diabetic conditions. Decreases abdominal bloating or gas, it also helps in treating the wounds etc. it can also be used in scanty menses or absence of menstruation.
