Introduction

Respiratory disease and lung disease are pathological conditions which affect the organs and tissues. Respiratory diseases range from mild to self-limiting such as in common cold and influenza and life-threatening diseases such as in Bacterial Pneumonia, tuberculosis and in severe acute respiratory syndromes. The physiological definition of respiration is the metabolic process which obtains energy by oxidizing various nutrients and releasing waste products. The exchange of gasses in the lungs occurs through ventilation and perfusion. This is the continuous process which goes throughout the organism in its lifetime. The normal breathing rate in adults is 15-18 times per minute. And during heavy exercise, the rate of breathing exceeds 25 minutes per minute. Types Of Respiratory Disorders

There are two types of respiratory disorders which are Infectious and Chronic.

  1. Pulmonary Infections – They are mostly bacterial and viral and are caused due to flu and due to weakened lungs and immune systems and are more vulnerable to various respiratory conditions.
  2. Chronic Lung Diseases – They are classified into 2 classes (Obstructive and Restrictive). They are a group of diseases which affect the other structures of the lungs.
