According to the ayurveda almost all the disorders are occurring due to the vata dosha. There are almost 80 diseases which originate due to the vata dosha. Vata dosha have qualities like laghu (Minute), flowy (Produces movement), light, and dry and person who is of vata prakriti will also have same types of qualities in his body, so to treat this condition we have to use the opposite quality herbs and medications. There is one such medication Maha vatvidhwansan ras which is the best medication to treat the conditions arising from the vata disorders.

It has been made by using the following ingredients which are mentioned below:

Description of The Ingredients
All the ingredients in this formulation have qualities which help in reducing the vata and balancing other doshas also so it is necessary to know about the medicinal properties of all the ingredients so that it will be easy to know the overall action and medicinal properties of the medicine.
1. Shuddha parad
When mercury is processed and purified by the ways mentioned in the ayurveda then it is used for making many formulations. It has all the shadrasa (6 tastes) in it and has a hot potency with unctuous, flowy and heavy to digest properties. Parad is the best mineral which helps to balance all the three doshas of the body. It is known as the mahavrishya means it is best known as aphrodisiac, rasayan due to its rejuvenating properties, yogavahi that means it can heighten the medicinal properties of any compound or herb with which it is added. It is also mentioned that it helps in increasing the intelligence, memory, lusture and strength of the body.
2. Shuddha gandhak
Purified sulfur is used in this formulation and it has a pungent, bitter and astringent taste with flowy properties. Potency of the gandhak is hot and is helpful in digesting the ama dosha from the blood and purifies blood and it also acts as a rasayan (Rejuvenating agent) so can be used itching, skin disorders, in sepsis, emaciation, geriatric condition, fever. It is also said in ayurveda that there is no best compound other than sulfur in ayurveda in the group of uprasa.
3. Naga bhasma
Naga bhasma is bitter, pungent, salty and sweet in taste, hot in potency. It is light to digest and oily and unctuous in nature. It has a lekhniya property, i.e. scrapping, and provides strength to the body. It is helpful in treating conditions such as acidity, spleen enlargement, chronic constipation, frequent urination, leucorrhoea etc.
4. Loh bhasma
Iron calx is made from the purified and processed iron, It is bitter, sweet and astringent in taste. Cold in potency and flowy in nature with drying in nature. It has a scraping, strengthening, and increases intelligence. It acts as a yogavahi, which means it acts as a catalyst and helps other medications in better absorption. Loh bhasma acts as a rasayan (Rejuvenating agent) and helps in balancing all the three doshas in the body.
5. Tamra bhasma
Calx of copper is known as tamra bhasma. Copper is purified and processed to make this calx which is bitter, astringent, bitter, and sweet in taste; also the resultant taste conversion after digestion is sweet and potency is hot. Tamra bhasma is nourishing in nature and helpful in treating conditions such as emaciation, anemia, cough, dyspnea, acidity and acts as a liver and spleen tonic. Due to sweet taste and hot potency it will help in balancing the vata dosha.
6. Abhrak bhasma
Purified and processed mica is used for making this formulation which is very cold in potency and sweet in taste due to which it is best aphrodisiac and helps in balancing the vata dosha. It is helpful in treating disorders such as cough, dyspnea, anemia, and acidity. It is helpful in increasing hair growth, improving complexion and helps in stabilizing the body.
7. Pippali
It is known as long pepper which is pungent in taste and also light to digest, strong and piercing in nature. Vipaka or pippali is sweet i.e. it undergoes sweet taste conversion after digestion. Due to its high potency it will help in balancing vata and kapha dosha. It has anti aging and rejuvenating effects and can be used in most diseases as a catalyst.
8. Tankan bhasma
Borax calx is known as tankan bhasma which is alkaline, dry and piercing in nature. Tankan is heavy to digest and hot in potency. It has scrapping, purgative properties. Increases digestive fire, prevents the effects of poison from the body. It helps in eliminating kapha dosha, slightly increases pitta dosha and treats diseases related to vata dosha.
9. Maricha
It is hot in potency hence helps in balancing the vata dosha. Taste of maricha is pungent and also it helps in removing the toxins from the body. It also acts as a catalyst as it helps in clearing the channels of the body. It slightly increases the pitta dosha from the body and decreases the kapha dosha from the body.
10. Shunthi
Rhizome of ginger in dried form is used for making this formulation. It has a hot potency and the taste of ginger is pungent. Shunthi undergoes sweet taste conversion after digestion and helps in balancing kapha dosha. It helps in improving digestion, relieves constipation, improves voice, relieves abdominal colic etc.
11. Shuddha vatsanabha
It is a plant based poison but when used in limited quantities it can have therapeutic benefits. Purified vatsanabha is bitter, pungent, and astringent in taste. It is hot in potency and it helps in balancing vata dosha but mainly vata dosha. So it can be used in conditions like burning sensation in the eye, swelling around eyes, inflammation in ears, helpful in pain related to sciatica, and prevents the toxic effects of the poisons.
12. Triphala
It consist of 3 fruits amalaki (Emblica officinale), harad (Terminalia chebula), vibhitaki (Terminalia billerica) and decoction of all these herbs are used in this formulation and all these fruits helps in balancing the three doshas from the body and also all the herbs are cold in potency, it helps in vata anulomana which means it eliminates the vata dosha from the body and prevent its movement in the opposite direction. It helps in keeping the cholesterol in the body.
13. Chitrakmool
Bark of the roots of chitrak are used in this formulation. It is pungent, bitter in taste and has a hot potency. It helps in improving digestion, this herb is also helpful in vatanuloman i.e. redirecting the movement of vata dosha and opening the channels of the body. It is also helpful in deepan and pachan of food and medication.
14. Bhringraj
Bhringraj is a herb which is known to increase hair growth and is best for hairs. It helps in balancing the vata and kapha dosha as it has a pungent and bitter taste. It is light to digest, drying in nature. Potency of the bhringraj is hot also its vipaka is katu i.e. it undergoes pungent taste conversion after digestion.
15. Kushtha
According to the ayurvedic classical texts it has been kept in groups such as shukra shodhan (Herbs cleansing semen), lekhaniya (Herbs having scrapping properties), asthapanopaga (Herbs used in basti treatment) etc. Kushtha is hot in potency. Bitter, pungent and sweet in taste which is light to digest and is dry and piercing in nature. It is a very good herb for the vata related disorders.
16. Nirgundi
It has a pungent and bitter taste so helpful in eliminating intestinal worms. Helps in balancing the vata and kapha dosha as it has hot potency. It is also used for pain relieving purposes and can also be used in skin disorders, muscle or joint pains, digestive tract disorders etc.
17. Arka
White discharge of the arkais used for the formulation and it is kept in groups such as Bhedniya (Piercing), vamanopaga (Induces vomiting), swedopag (Induces sweating) etc. It has a pungent and bitter taste with hot potency and due to hot potency it helps in balancing vata and kapha dosha. Helps in improving digestion, eases the bowel movement, relieves itching and spleen disorders etc.
18. Nimbu
Juice of the nimbu is used in this formulation, It has a sour taste and is used for the purification process of the herbs which is light to digest, piercing in nature with hot in potency. It helps in relieving excessive thirst, bad breath, gastritis and is light to digest. It helps in improving skin complexion and skin texture.
Method Of Preparation
Following method of preparation is used for making mahavat vidhwansan ras:
- First make the kajjali of parad and gandhak.
- Then all the bhasma and churna of all the herbs is added in that kajjali.
- Than bhavna of the decoction of trikatu, triphala, chitrakmool, bhringraj, kustha, nirgundi, arka ksheer, amla swaras, adrak swaras, and nimbu swaras is given one by one 3 times.
- After that make tablets of 1-1 ratti and store that.

Dosage
It can be taken in the dose of 125 mg twice a day before or after meal.

Indications
It can be indicated in disorders related to the vata disorders, It is useful in strengthening the bones and joints. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory and analgesic medicine, it is also used to treat pains related to joints such as ankle pain, slip disc, sprain, back spasm, back injury etc. Treats disorders such as neuralgia, abdominal colic, bloating etc. and psychosomatic disorders such as paralysis, splenic disorders, hemorrhoids. It is also used in conditions such as post viral fever, muscle and joint pains, bursitis etc. Joint disorders such as Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and nerve disorders such as Neuropathy, nerve irritation, sciatica, cervical spondylosis. It acts as a nervous tranquilizer etc.
Side Effects
There are not any side effects and it should be taken under strict medical supervision.

Maha vatvidhwansan ras is an ayurvedic medication which is herbo mineral and are classical ayurvedic tablets which are used for the diseases related to the vata dosha in the body and there are many vata dosha related disorders are there and cause so much discomfort.
