Introduction

Dashmoola Capsules is a patent polyherbal ayurvedic formulation manufactured by Planet Ayurveda. It consists standardized extract of the root of various herbs such as Shyonak (Oroxylum indicum), Patala (Stereospermum suaveolens) Agnimantha (Clerodendrum phlomidis) Gambhari (Gmelina arborea) etc. Dash means ten and moola means roots which means that in this formulation there is presence of ten roots, the 5 roots are of trees (Brihat pancha moola) and 5 are of the shrubs (Laghu pancha moola). Dashmoola can be used in various conditions, especially in the vataja Rogas.

Description of Used Ingredients in Dashmoola Capsules

1. Bilwa (Aegle marmelos)

The roots of the herb Bilwa helps in pacifying the Vata and Kapha doshas, It possess Kashaya (astringent) and Tikta (Bitter) rasa and is ruksha (Dry) and ushna (Hot) in effect. Bilva has an Antipyretic, Restorative and Digestive action on the body. It balances the three doshas. Bilva helps in proper functioning to the cardiovascular system of the body and manages Skin conditions. Acts as an Analgesic and Anti inflammatory.

2. Shyonak (Oroxylum indicum)

The roots of the herb shyonak possess the Anti-inflammatory, Diuretic, antibacterial and antifungal properties. It consists of Madhura (Sweet), Tikta (Bitter) and Kashaya (Astringent) rasa which helps in balancing the vata and Kapha doshas. Root of Shyonak is very beneficial in managing the cold and cough. It is also useful in Rheumatoid arthritis, anorexia, Diarrhea and dysentery.

3. Patala (Stereospermum suaveolens)

Patala has Tikta (Bitter) and Kashya (Astringent) in taste and has Laghu (Light) and ruksha (Dry) properties. It possesses Anti-inflammatory properties which helps in lowering the inflammation. It is Diuretic in nature and maintains the proper flow of Urine. Patala also helps in managing the Burning sensation in urine, Frequent and Difficulty in micturation. Patala acts as a blood purifier and increases the production of the red blood cells.

4. Agnimantha (Clerodendrum phlomidis)

The agnimantha is derived from two words: Agni means fire and mantha means to shake. It is called so because its wood was used in ancient timea to produce fire. It is Katu (Pungent), Tikta (Bitter), Kashaya (Astringent) and Madhur (Sweet) in Rasa and is very beneficial in managing the vitiated vata Dosha. This herb possesses the Anti inflammatory property, Increases the digestive fire, Eliminates the toxins from the body and Boosts immune System.

5. Gambhari (Gmelina arborea)

Gambhari has Tikta (Bitter), Kashaya (Astringent) and Madhur (Sweet) in Rasa. This herb helps in pacifying the pain and Inflammation in the body. It helps in improving the Digestion and absorption in the body. Gambhari helps in improving the brain function and has a natural antiageing effect. It provides strength to the body and maintains the normal blood pressure level.

6. Gokshur (Tribulus terrestris)

Gokshur is an ancient herb possessing Aphrodisiac property. This herb is madhura (Sweet) in taste. It consists of Guru (Heavy) and Snigdha (Unctous) guna and is cold in potency. Gokshura consists onf Anti-inflammatory and Anthelmintic properties. It possesses Diuretic property which promotes the Proper flow of Urine. It gives a soothing and coolinf effect to the membranes of the Urinary Tract.

7. Kantakari (Solanum surattense)

Kantakari possess the Katu (Pungent) and Tikta (Bitter) rasa which helps in pacifying the Vata and Kapha Dosha. As the name suggests, the kantakari herb is good for the throat. It helps in pacifying the pains and aches. It acts as an anti inflammatory and Stimulates the Digesrtive fire. Due to its Hot potency it is very beneficial in managing respiratory conditions. 8. Brihati (Solanum indicum)

Brihati consists of Katu (Pungent) and Tikta (Bitter) Rasa which balances the kapha and Vata Dosha. It improves the Digestion and is useful in respiratory conditions. Along with these, brihati is useful in managing the Skin diseases and worm infestation. Brihati helps in increasing the Strength, provides nourishment and immunity.

9. Prishnaparni (Uraria picta)

It is one of the ancient ayurvedic herbs. It consists of the Madhur (Sweet) and Tikta (Bitter) rasa and helps in balancing all the doshas. 10. Shalparni (Desmodium gangeticum)
