WHAT IS AN UMBILICAL HERNIA?

An umbilical hernia occurs when the part of the intestines bulges out from the opening through the umbilicus. These hernias are common and typically harmless. This type of hernia is common in infants, but adults can also be affected. About 90% of cases of umbilical hernia will eventually close on their own. When the part of the intestines bulges through the opening in the abdominal muscles near your navel, it causes hernia through the umbilicus.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES?

In infants, when the muscles don’t join together completely in the midline of the abdominal wall after the delivery, an umbilical hernia may appear at birth. In adults, too much abdominal pressure leads to umbilical hernias. The causes of increased pressure are:

• Obesity
• Ascites (fluid in the abdominal cavity)
• Previous abdominal surgery

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

Usually, there are no symptoms of this disease. They are usually painless in nature. But if symptoms arise then those are:

• Abdominal discomfort
• Appears to be in Pain 
• Vomiting
• Discoloration at the site of the hernia

PRODUCTS DESCRIPTION

1. Vara Churna

This is a herbal formulation that is very beneficial in maintaining the health of the gut. This herbal powder is made from three wonderful herbs that are Amla (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), and Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica). It acts as a Rasayan (Rejuvenative) for the body. This is an effective herbal supplement for colon cleansing. It strengthens the abdominal muscles and prevents herniation. It also corrects liver metabolism and helps in proper digestion. This product is also very helpful in high cholesterol, vision problems, migraine, acidity, etc.

Dosage – 1 teaspoonful twice daily with warm water.

2. Digestion Support

This is a polyherbal formulation. It is used in the treatment of various digestive disorders. It is prepared from the standardized extracts of Amla (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica), Saunf (Foeniculum vulgare), Dhania (Coriander sativum), Pippali (Piper longum), and Jeerak (Cyminum cuminum). This is an excellent herbal formula to restore digestive health naturally. It controls acidity, flatulence, and gas. The ingredients like dhania and jeera give relief from abdominal pain naturally. 3. Chitrakadi Vati

This is a classical formulation used in digestive disorders. It is prepared from herbs like Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica), Five slats, Shunthi (Zingiber officinale), Pippali (Piper longum), Maricha (Piper nigrum), Chavya (Piper chaba), etc. This is a popular herbal formulation used for loss of appetite. It helps to digest the undigested food which is known as Aama (endotoxins). Thus it improves the digestion and metabolism of the body. This herbal formulation is beneficial in indigestion, flatulence, hernia, constipation, anorexia, abdominal pain, etc. It manages all three doshas in the body.
