An Epididymal cyst, also called as spermatic cyst or spermatocele is a condition where a fluid filled cyst develops in the epididymis of male reproductive system. It is located in the scrotum, above and behind the testicles. We can easily see tightly coiled long tubes, and this structure is called as epididymis. It is the passage for sperms of about 20 feet long. Usually epididymis is the site where sperm matures.
The cyst size may vary in different persons and it doesn’t hurt usually. But at times, when the cyst increases in size, or gets twisted, it may become painful and it feels like heaviness and swelling in testicles. Generally, the allopathic practitioners prescribe surgery in order to remove it.
Don’t Panic!! It is just benign nothing malignant. Also, it has nothing to do greatly with infertility and never affects urination or ejaculation.
These smooth spermatic cysts (spermatoceles) are usually filled with cloudy whitish fluid and often hold dead sperms. Though the modern researchers fail to explain the exact cause for spermatocele condition, this is a very common cystic growth found in 3 out of every 10 males. Individuals of the age group between 20 to 50 years are more prone to Epididymal Cysts.
Epididymal cyst is a completely harmless condition but it can be the cause for many other health related disorders. Ayurveda gives its divine elixir to remove the cystic growth and also to prevent other ailments.
